Keeping Trojans Strong; Troy University and COVID-19

Trojan Target is a blog focused in everything Troy University. Amid the recent epidemic of COVID-19, I feel as though it is important to address Troy’s proactive and reactive stance on issues that affect students, professors, and other faculty on campus.

Most students at Troy are attracted to the “One Troy” motto because it is promotes a family among your own. This is often the reason many students choose Troy. I hope this information on Troy’s plan of action regarding COVID-19 allow you to understand the pride that Troy University maintains in the health and well-being of its students.

Currently, Troy University has suspended all on campus classes at every location. Students have been switched to “online or alternative delivery methods.” This decision falls in line with the National and State campaigns to self-quarantine for 14 days. Symptoms of the COVID-19 virus can lay dormant for up to 14 days, which is why this self-quarantine period is so important.

Troy University recognizes that the health of their students is most important. The decision to allow student the opportunity to quarantine was made after the suspension of all Troy University related study abroad trips and a call to action about safety during spring break trips.

The Corona Virus mimics the symptom of a common cold and flu, but other elements have made it much more difficult to manage. In addition to flu symptoms like fatigue, cold sweats, body aches, ect, However, the addition of breathing complications and the viruses ability to morph into other symptoms and lay dormit is why it is so imperative we all remain vigilant.

Many of us do not know what the future holds. Will we finish the rest of the semester online? Will the seniors at Troy get an opportunity to walk the stage? It may take time to answer these questions, but there are a few things we can do to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Wash your hands! This virus has a 99% chance of entering your system when in contact with your face. Avoid groups of 8 or more and reduce all unessential travel. All these things can help prevent the spread of Corona Virus and hopefully decrease the amount of lives that this virus takes from the United States and the Trojan Family.
